Brothers and Sisters,
We find ourselves in a society fractured, divided and afraid – seemingly tied up in a Gordian knot. Today our politicians and bureaucrats are forcibly holding the hands of citizens, thereby treating them like incompetent children. It must be obvious that this situation is not sustainable and most certainly not tolerable for the majority of people, least of all any self-respecting and responsible adult. While some on the extreme left collectivist side of politics have a vision of society akin to V for Vendetta, Soylent Green or Logan’s Run (there are so many examples), it is definitely not my vision and the vision of conservatives. The totalitarian approach exhibited by governments is not acceptable, not necessary and not going to result in the best outcomes for citizens. We need a way forward.
Let’s just deal with a couple of key factors (there are many more to fill books).
Trust in politicians and bureaucrats, including scientists, is seriously waning.
This is the result of behaving in ways that do not instil trust or ways that are simply inappropriate, such as making decisions that lack transparency, consistency or support. Hypocritical attitudes and heavy-handed enforcement of rules that do not make any sense will only hasten the erosion of trust, whatever little there was to begin with. It is infuriation to see our national independence being lost and our bureaucrats and political leaders virtually incapable of making a decision for themselves, preferring rather to take on and point the finger at globalist institutions instead. At some point the generally quiet Australians will rise up to defend the little they have left and ask if we haven’t destroyed our culture, communities, industry and infrastructure enough? What is there to gain and who is there left to trust, when existing leaders no longer honour the principles and values they profess to hold? This, for one, has allowed the post-modernist cancer of political correctness to pervade our government institutions and schools at all levels. The nefarious effects of this are seen and felt by many and this lunacy has crept in with fabian stealth only now to silence the majority view. How can we take our judicial system seriously if extremist green activists get a $20 fine for vandalising parliament house, while someone else gets a $5000 fine for lingering too long when talking to a friend? How can we find it normal that an elected President is de-platformed and mocked, while terrorist groups like Hezbollah and ISIS are ‘simply misunderstood’?
The answer and way forward is simple.
Return to a trust in the individual to make the best decisions for themselves: stop treating them like children. (In turn society must stop demanding to be parented.) Politicians and bureaucrats, including police, should start again to behave as if they serve the population, not rule them! We must return to open and transparent decision making, with fearless and ruthless transparency. Politicians must fearlessly honour the values they profess. Government can and should return to providing support and information, so that citizens can – voluntarily – draw conclusions and make decisions for themselves. Let us begin with protecting Australia and make decisions in our own best interest, rather than simply copying what is done overseas.
We need to stop playing politics and demand our leaders explain themselves. We need our society to rebuild some resilience and renewed capability to tolerate and listen to differing opinions. Science and academia must return to a fearless quest for truth, which can only come by robust and open debate. Question everything!
Our media and schools have become propaganda tools
Education bureaucrats, school teachers and teaching academia have become way too reliant on social and traditional media, such as the ABC. Mistaken what they can find there for accurate and informative resources? Extreme trans-activism, cancel-culture, cultural-marxism, green-activism, critical race theory and more have taken root in our schools, rewriting history and undermining the love for everything that has made our nation’s peoples free and prosperous. No one dare question the insanity of the alternative. There is no positive, workable model, just destruction of our norms and values.
Of course, this only adds to the first problem when our politically elected representatives and leaders remain silent, allowing this cancer to fester and grow.
The media on almost every front are no longer independently looking for truth, but have become propaganda tools for their globalist owners. Only their ‘truth’ is allowed and no one dare question it. It is insidious and dangerous, which too few seem to realise. Like a frog in a boiling pot, many still believe the ABC is fair and balanced, ha.
The answer here too is simple.
Privatise the ABC, take the broom through our education system and vehemently protect the individual rights to freedom of speech. Too many conspiracy theories have been proven true to ban fearless investigation and debate. You can not learn and grow without having the opportunity to be wrong. No new information can come to light and no learning can be had if we are unable to openly seek and test what we know is true or not. This is science AND philosophy! The only way to rebuild trust of our media, our education system and between neighbours is to have no compelled or banned speech. If people can freely express themselves, then there is limited reason to distrust what they say is what they believe. Of course, free expression also requires us to be held accountable for what we say. What we need to lose is this nanny-state approach to pre-emptively block and ban people from speaking out. What needs to be shed is the idea that other people need to be controlled. What is to be promoted is that we each control ourselves and let others make their own decisions. In following classical liberal principles, those that governed the Menzies of the past, what our leaders and every righteous individual should honour and protect are the indefeasible (inalienable) rights we all have been granted by our creator – not government!
Remember that only liars fear truth, and only darkness fears light!
Blessings!
